Baby Skin Care Products
Keeping Your Baby’s Skin Baby Smooth:
Choosing the right baby skincare product for your precious baby is important in keeping your baby healthy and happy.
With the many different kinds of baby skincare products available on the market today, plus the vast amount of advertisements for baby skincare products you are bombarded with from television, newsprint and magazine ads choosing the right baby skincare product can be somewhat overwhelming not to mention confusing. If they’re all the best one, which do you choose?
Well you may have to go through a few of them before you find the right one. Because your baby’s skin is very soft and delicate you should use baby skincare products sparingly at least for the first few weeks and monitor your baby’s skin closely to see if any rashes or red spots develop. If you notice any type of changes in your baby’s skin after applying the baby skincare product you should discontinue use immediately.
Diaper Rash:
The one major baby skincare problem that every parent faces at one time or another in the first years of their baby’s life is diaper rashes, which is usually caused by wet diapers or cloth diapers being left on too long. Parents should regularly check to see whether their baby’s diaper needs changing, at least every hour or so.
Also parents should pay particular attention to the type of detergent they use to wash their baby’s clothes and cloth diapers with, as some detergents may contain chemicals that might irritate your baby’s skin and cause him/her to develop skin rash. Should your baby develop a rash and you suspect that the detergent you are using to be the cause, discontinue use immediately and try a different product.
Baby Moisturizers, Lotions, & Oils:
Most parents believe that it is necessary to smother their baby’s skin with some sort of moisturizer or other product in order to keep their baby’s skin soft and smooth. Believe it or not this can do more harm than good to your baby’s skin, especially newborn babies.
Your baby's skin needs a chance to build up its immune system on its own and many of these lotions, powders etc, might contain chemicals that can be harmful to your baby’s skin, so for the first few weeks of your baby’s life you should practice good baby skincare and simply bathe your baby with warm water and if some type of soap is necessary you should use a mild, non scented colorless soap.
Baby Talc/Powder:
Nearly every parent uses baby talc/powder in their daily baby skincare routine as they all want their babies to smell and look beautiful. This is fine as long as you don’t overdo it, especially in the diaper area, you should use it sparingly just as you would with moisturizers or lotions, because powder tends to cache up when it gets wet and this can cause your baby to develop diaper rash.
Good baby skincare practices are important in order to keep your baby’s skin baby smooth, but the other and probably most important ingredient to a happy, healthy, beautiful baby is love, shower your baby with love and he or she will grow into a very happy, healthy, beautiful child.
